2023 MTV VMAs: Demi Lovato Rocks Out ‘Revamped’ Medley of Their Biggest Hits

DEMI LOVATO SOME rock & roll to the MTV Video Music Awards as the singer performed Revamped renditions of “Heart Attack,” “Sorry Not Sorry,” and “Cool For the Summer” at Newark, New Jersey’s Prudential Center on Tuesday. Backed by a full band, Lovato delivered their signature powerhouse vocals over electric guitars and heavy percussion. Her pyrotechnics were on full blast, shooting off fire across the edge of the stage.

Lovato’s appearance at the 2023 event marked her first VMAs performance in six years; the singer has been a fixture at the show since debuting on the VMAs stage in 2015 with “Cool for the Summer,” followed by a 2017 performance of “Sorry Not Sorry.”

A 14-time nominee at the MTV VMAs, Lovato has only won the Moon Person once, which coincidentally happened after their first nomination ever in 2012, when “Skyscraper” won Best Video With a Message. It’s been a decade of Ls since then, but Lovato will seek redemption at the 2023 VMAs, where “Swine” is up for Best Pop Video and Video for Good.

Many of Lovato’s previously VMA-nominated tracks — like “Sorry Not Sorry,” “Cool for the Summer,” and “Heart Attack” — will be revisited with a rock edge for her upcoming LP Revamped, out Sept. 15, just days after the VMAs.
