Katy Perry’s personal brand is built on her quirky cartoonishness, a quality consistently highlighted in each of her colorful music videos.  Right now, Perry’s delving deep into Barbie mode as she promotes her latest chart-topper, “California Gurls.”

Perry has been spotted out in not one but three skintight PVC dresses in the past week, flaunting an unbelievable body in a fabric most often associated with sex shop costumes. On June 9, she slipped into a colorful graphic dress and a bright purple wig for a performance on the finale of Germany’s Next Top Model. A few days later, she stepped out in a hybrid Stars ‘n Stripes/Union Jack dress on the evening of the USA vs. England World Cup game—a publicity stunt, maybe, but harmless.

On Tuesday, the transformation into Malibu was nearly complete as Perry performed in a pink and green PVC halter dress in Times Square.
