KATY PERRY NO LONGER PERFORMING AT VICTORIA’S SECRET FASHION SHOW, ‘TIME’ NAMES FENTY BEAUTY ONE OF 2022’S BEST INVENTIONS

These are the stories making headlines in fashion on Friday.

Katy Perry will no longer perform at the 2017 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show
The list of talents set to perform, walk and cover the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show in Shanghai is dwindling. Global pop sensations Harry Styles and Katy Perry were just earlier this week reportedly scheduled to sing at the lingerie spectacle, but on Thursday, Page Six revealed that the “Teenage Dream” singer was denied access into the country by Chinese officials. As of now, Styles — and hopefully a hot pink Gucci suit — will still serenade the Angels. {Page Six}

Fenty Beauty named one of Time’s best inventions of 2017
Behind every great invention is a person who saw a problem and invented a solution, or a new device to fix it. In the case of Fenty Beauty, reigning queen Rihanna invented a highly inclusive range of makeup designed to make any person – from the lightest- to the darkest-skinned —  feel more beautiful. The singer-turned-designer has thus revolutionized the beauty industry by catering her line of cosmetics to all women, which has landed her a spot, among 25 other inventions, on Time’s “best inventions of 2017” list.{Hypebae}

Streetwear is losing its cool
Streetwear is becoming a distasteful descriptor for clothes as more and more brands adopt the term to characterize a selection of diluted streetwear staples. Thus, the OG street brands that started the whole urban apparel craze — like Stussy and Supreme — have decided to re-position themselves as lifestyle brands and luxury players. {Glossy}

Millennials’ demand for retro jeans is spurring a denim revolution
Just six or seven years ago, jeggings were all the rage; we just couldn’t get enough of the spandex-y pants that looked like Levi’s (looking back, they didn’t) and felt like loungewear. Then various pant styles passed, and wearing leggings — whether en route to the gym or to work — become sartorially acceptable. But it seems the trend tables have turned, and now, legging sales are slowing and denim – real, hardy blue jeans — are making a comeback, thanks to a greater millennial demand for vintage styles. {Business of Fashion}

A child destroyed more than $1,000 of makeup at Sephora
Last Saturday, a shopper snapped a photo of a MakeUp Forever eyeshadow counter transformed into an abstract splatter painting at Sephora, posting it to Facebook with an accompanying message urging moms to do their makeup shopping without their tiny humans. The photo initiated a heated conversation among Twitter users regarding proper store etiquette with toddlers and various instances of mom-shaming that have now gone viral. {Business Insider}
