Olivia Rodrigo inducts Alanis Morissette into the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame

Olivia Rodrigo supports Alanis Morissette on her big night!

The 19-year-old “Fuehrerschein” singer accompanied the 48-year-old singer/songwriter on the red carpet of the 2022 Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame Gala on Saturday evening (September 26) at Mᴀssey Hall in Toronto, Canada.

During the event, Olivia gave a touching speech as she helped with the introduction Alanis inducted into the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame.

Olivia began her speech with references Alanis‘ Grammy-winning album Jagged little pillwhich was released in 1995 – eight years earlier Olivia was born!

“My life has changed completely. Alanis’ songwriting was unlike anything I had ever heard before and I haven’t heard anything like it since.” Olivia said on stage, about billboard. “And that voice – wild and tender and sometimes funny and playful. I became addicted for life.”

Olivia continued, “Alanis captured the anger, sadness and love of the human experience better than anyone. Her songs unite people and strengthen people and help them to heal. Alanis, you are a trailblazer and inspired a whole generation to uncompromising, radically honest songwriting. But even more than your long list of musical achievements, I admire your character and your kindness.”

“If you had a hall of fame for being the most incredible person with the biggest heart, I am 100 percent sure you would be inducted into it too.” Olivia added.

Was also present at the gala Catherine McPhee and husband David Forestwho was also inducted into the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame that evening.
