If you ever wondered what happened to the Emo style of the early 2000s, look no further than Dua Lipa. The singer, who is known for dressing with a mix between high-glam and downtown rock and roll, stepped out in New York City with her boyfriend Anwar Hadid wearing what can only be described as the upgraded version of an outfit once plastered all over MySpace.

The look was easy, all black from her head to her toes (minus a white mask), but what really stood out was that cuff over the finger-cropped hoodie. Back in the day, this look would have been achieved through stealthily cutting a hole in your sleeve and wearing it over your finger, but this was much more purposeful – though still DIY looking. At a time when we’re all donning sweatpants and comfortable clothes, why not experiment a little with a throwback moment?

She paired the zip-up with Coach leather pants, Mary-Jane stilettos, and a clutch. The outfit was simple, nostalgic, and yet somehow fresh. Now, excuse us while we run to our closets and play The Used.
