Katy was shown breaking down into tears.

Lionel Richie kicked off the video by suggesting every contestant has a story and a reason to be on the show.

A woman then claimed she couldn’t do the show if it wasn’t for her sister’s support.

During the audition, the sisters reunited and had an emotional embrace.

Katy broke down in tears while watching.

During the snippet, she wore a skin-тιԍнт floral dress that clung to her curves.

Her dark locks were pulled back into an updo.

“This is why we do the show,” she said in an emotional voice.

The video showed her looking to her fellow judges and crying.

“Everyone’s story begins somewhere! Join the #AmericanIdol journey on Sunday at 8/7c on ABC and Stream on Hulu!,” the post was captioned.

The singer revealed on Monday that she won’t be returning to her judge’s seat on Idol after seven seasons.

Katy made the confession during an interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live!

“This fall, in September, I’m going to be doing this huge music festival in Brazil called Rock in Rio,” the artist unexpectedly revealed.

“So I think this will probably be my last season for Idol.”

The studio audience gasped at Katy’s admission, prompting the Roar singer to gush over her experience on the show.

“I mean, I love Idol so much. It’s connected me with the heart of America, but I need to feel that pulse of my own beat,” she added.

Katy joined Idol in 2018 when the show was revived on ABC for its 16th season.

The admission came as a surprise, but chatter had been circulating for months that Katy was considering leaving the show to spend more time with her family.

The Roar singer is a mom to a three-year-old daughter, Daisy, with her fiance, Orlando Bloom, 47, and a stepmother to his 13-year-old son, Flynn, whom he shares with his ex-wife, Miranda Kerr, 40.

In May 2023, an insider exclusively told The U.S. Sun that Katy was “milling over” the future.

They suggested that Katy will be more focused on creating music and spending time with her children.

Katy supposedly feels guilty for spending so much time away from her family.

THE REAL REASON

“With both of them working so much on projects, time as a family is also very precious,” the source said about Katy and the Pirates of the Caribbean actor’s bustling careers.

“She’s spoken about wanting more sleep and feeling a lot more emotional than usual this season,” they added.

Following her departure, fans thought Katy was promoting new music.

The star posted a cryptic teaser on her Instagram.

Katy posted a pH๏τo of herself in a Sєxy skinтιԍнт black dress with a plunging neckline and large cutouts at her midsection.

It was held together with numerous silver ʙuттerfly pins, a symbol that has appeared in several of her music videos.

Katy mentioned that she was headlining the Rock In Rio Music Festival in Brazil this summer in the caption.
