Outrageous and outspoken pop star Katy Perry hasn’t been out-of-sight or out-of-mind all summer thanks to her #1 smash, “California Gurls.”

On the eve of her new album’s release, the queen of the beach heads back inside to guest DJ the latest installment of Equinox Fitness Clubs’ EQ Sessions Celebrity Sets: sugar-free ear candy that promises to be as delicious as her singles.

The set of high-energy tracks, hand picked and sequenced by Katy, is currently available at equinox.com/eqsessions.
Few can match Katy’s energy on stage, but now they can feel her flow at the gym, at the beach or just about anywhere.

If you ever wondered what’s on her iPod while she works out, this is it. Katy’s set features chart smashes from fellow icons (Beyonce, Rihanna and Kylie Minogue), breakthrough artists (Sia, Kelis, The Gossip, Mike Posner) and emerging acts (Crookers and Dragonette).

“Music is an essential part of the Equinox experience,” says Bianca Kosoy, Senior Creative Director for Equinox. “Our monthly in-house EQ Sessions grew so popular that we decided to invite iconic artists to Guest DJ monthly Celebrity Sets.

Equinox only set two parameters: the songs had to be up-tempo and true to the artist’s personal taste.

We pumped up the volume on the project quickly when Madonna agreed to DJ Volume One of the Celebrity Sets. We took off with a sonic boom and a diverse series of music icons soon followed, including Jason Mraz, LaRoux, One Republic, Slash and Cyndi Lauper.

There is no financial compensation associated with the program — the artists contribute their mixes simply for the love of the music, the Equinox brand, and a mutual passion to share their favorite songs with our members.

Katy’s playlist introduces a new component: giving back. A portion of each download will benefit our charity, Cycle For Survival.

Equinox is a founding sponsor of Cycle for Survival, an indoor cycling event that raises money for research of rare cancers at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.
