KATY Perry has decided to leave American Idol behind, and no one knows who will replace her.
Still, fans of American Idol have some ideas as to who could fill Katy’s shoes.
She was announced as a new judge on May 16, 2017, after ABC revealed Katy as a new judge for Idol’s 16th season.
At the time, she said: “I am honored and thrilled to be the first judge bringing back the American Idol tradition of making dreams come true for incredible talents with authentic personalities and real stories.
“I’m always listening to new music and love discovering diamonds in the rough.
“From mentoring young artists on my label, or highlighting new artists on my tours, I want to bring it back to the music.”
Seven years and six seasons later, the pop singer has decided to depart from the show.
HER REPLACEMENT
Fans of the show on Reddit tried to guess who would be replacing the Dark Horse singer.
One guessed: “Watch for Jennifer Lopez’s return.”
“Is J Lo’s PR team in this thread doing literal stealth marketing for her to judge?
“I’ve never seen so many fans come out of the woodwork so quickly and so uniformly,” added another.
“Let’s get Miley Cyrus,” added a third.

Other fans commented on the thread lamenting over the loss of Katy Perry.
One wrote: “I know people have issues with Katy, but I find her funny, unpredictable, and the only current judge to sometimes get a little honest with contestants when they don’t bring their A-game.”
“I know Katy isn’t anyone’s cup of tea but she’s the most honest judge out of 3 and I rather keep her over Luke who doesn’t give anything other than country,” wrote another.
BYE GIRL BYE
On Monday, Katy announced she was leaving American Idol as she plans to exit the show to focus on new music.
While discussing her decision on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Katy explained: “So I think this will probably be my last season for Idol.
“I love Idol so much. It’s connected me with the heart of America, but I need to feel that pulse of my own beat.
“I love the show so much but I wanna go and see the world and maybe bring new music.”
She added: “Well, you know, this fall, this September, I’m going to be doing this huge music festival in Brazil called Rock in Rio. It’s really exciting.
“It’s a big deal for people all over the world, especially my Brazilian fans.”
“So it’s going to be a very, very exciting year…for all popstar girlies.
“Maybe I’ll come back if they’ll have me one day!”
Fans online believe Katy will use her free time to release her sixth studio album.
