Katy Perry is a very proud member of the fellowship — and she showed off her allegiance this year at Coachella was a vintage t-shirt that paid homage to her fiancé Orlando Bloom’s Lord of the Rings character, Legolas. In a roundup of photos that showed her taking in the sights and sounds of the celebrity-beloved music festival, Perry paired a throwback tee with no pants, combat boots, and a pair of necklaces, one of which featured her initials, K and P, even though Perry’s real name is Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson. The image printed on the shirt showed Bloom in his full Legolas getup and the word “Legolas” in a tribal-inspired font.
“I been to Coachella longer than you’ve been alive,” she captioned the post, which also included images of her enjoying Doja Cat’s set. People reported that Perry shared Bloom’s reaction in her Stories, which showed a snapshot of her FaceTiming her beau.
Bloom played Legolas, a fan-favorite white-haired elf who joins the Fellowship in the Lord of the Rings trilogy. The movies, which are based on the books by J.R.R. Tolkien, were in theaters from 2001 to 2003. It was just one of the franchises that Bloom headlined, as he would go on to lead Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean films alongside Keira Knightley immediately after LOTR wrapped up its box office domination.
Perry and Bloom met in 2016 and sparked romance rumors when they were seen getting acquainted at a Golden Globes afterparty. They later got engaged on Valentine’s Day in 2019. They now share a 3-year-old daughter, Daisy Dove.
While Bloom didn’t join Perry at Coachella, the two did have a date night at the Breakthrough Prize Ceremony in Los Angeles on Saturday, Apr. 13. For the occasion, Perry teased her next album via a glass Coperni bag, which had a scroll in it printed with “KP6 TOP SECRET.” Perry is currently wrapping up her tenure on American Idol, where she has been a mainstay at the judge’s table for seven seasons.
“I am always emotional on the finale, but gosh, when this finale comes, I better just tape the false lashes to my face,” Perry told Entertainment Tonight of her last days on the show. “I’m just trying to make space for other things. It’s not like me ending this show means I’m going to go retire on an island, even though that would be fabulous. I’m gonna go to work.”
