If you didn’t already know, the new Mean Girls musical hits theaters this week. To celebrate the new era, Plastics new and old gathered in New York City on January 8 for an extra special premiere. Our new Regina George, Reneé Rapp, was there, as was Mean Girls soundtrack staple Megan Thee Stallion. The original Cady Heron, Lindsay Lohan, also made a surprise appearance.

To celebrate two decades of the cult classic—the OG came out in 2004—and usher in a new era of the iconic story, Lohan obviously had to come to the premiere dressed to plastic perfection. Which she did with her mermaid waves and sparkly French tips that had us screaming, “Grool!”

Since she wore an abstract Alexandre Vauthier Couture gown with side-baring cut-outs and a bedazzled belt accent, Lohan turned to celebrity hairstylist Danielle Priano to make sure her Mean Girl hair was just as perfect as the outfit.

Priano shared all the details of how she achieved the bombshell waves that saw the actor’s gorgeous auburn hair parted to the side and laid over her shoulder.

To start, Priano detangled Lohan’s hair with the Mermade Hair Everyday Brush ($20) before going in with SexyHair’s Big Altitude Bodifying Blow Dry Mousse ($23), applying the product to the star’s hair from roots to mids. She said that this helps “to build a strong foundation for the sculpted end result.”

After letting the product sit for a second, she blow-dried the hair until it was smooth, then sectioned out the hair to plan for the perfect placement for her extensions.

To give Lohan that ultra-long, dramatic style, Priano used Hidden Crown’s Seamless Clip-in 20-inch extensions ($200) in the shade Light Auburn. She says this step adds almost all the volume needed. However, she still applied SexyHair Big Powder Play Volumizing & Texturizing Powder ($21) to the roots for more volume and extra grip for the extensions.

Then, it was time for those flawless waves. For this step, she used the Mermade Hair OG Pro Waver ($80), working through Lohan’s hair in large sections. As she curled, she sprayed more hairspray every time she added heat. Then, she used her “secret weapon,” the Blow Dry Brush ($80) for extra smoothness. The last step was some final spritzes of hairspray, then Lilo’s hair was mermaid perfection. Priano tucked one half behind her ear before the star stepped onto the red carpet.
