Her album ‘Silence Between Songs’ is out now

Madison Beer has just released her latest album ‘Silence Between Songs’, and she opened up to us about how it was listening to a number of very iconic bands, particularly British ones, that led her to producing this fantastic album.

Speaking to us as part of our For The Record series, Madison explained: “I was in a very serious Beatles, Beach Boys, obsession… still in it currently, but that’s what I was listening to mostly, (there) was a lot of music from that time period, and I think it inspired me in so many ways.

“And yeah, I love those sort of bands, The Zombies… I mean there’s endless people I can name, Queen, they’re a clear influence on ‘King of Everything’.”

The singer went on open up about some of the songs on the album, revealing: “The hardest song to write was probably ‘At Your Worst’, because we were teetering with the topic of what we were actually writing about. I loved writing that song, but it was probably the most difficult to put together.”

She went on to say: “There are songs that almost made it, that didn’t. We had probably a 17 song album and we cut it down to 14, so… but I mean, ‘I Wonder’, ‘Sweet Relief’ and ‘At Your Worst’ were the latest additions, so those were the last ones.”

Why did Madison change the cover art for the album?
Fans of Madison will notice that the album art she now uses is not what she launched with, and she explained why.

“The album cover is an ongoing thing in my fanbase,” Madison explained. “We talk about it and we joke about it. We had another cover art that I launched with, that I announced with, and I knew that wasn’t going to be the final cover art, it was just something that I had to get up to announce it.”

The original cover art is shown above, and as Madison explained: “No hate to that cover art, it is adorable and it’s on vinyl, so we still love it, but I always knew that I saw this album cover, specifically in a nature setting.

“I didn’t see it on a set in a music video, you know with full glam on, and stuff. I saw it much more like in a field, a cornfield specifically, and we got the shot that I had always dreamed of, so it just feels very representative. I feel like the album feels very honest and true to me and I felt like being in nature that inspired so much of this album, felt like the right thing to do.”

How did she choose the album title?
We love the name of Madison’s second album, ‘Silence Between Songs’, but we wanted to know how she came up with such an unusual name, the singer explained: “Picking a title for an album is always sort of difficult.
