Two of the most exciting red carpet stars of the moment joined forces on the red carpet last night: Alexa Demie and Taylor Russell. Fresh off her Bones and All press tour, Russell has been one of Hollywood’s boldest new risk takers with a penchant for sleek Loewe, Schiaparelli, and Tom Ford-era Gucci designs. Demie, meanwhile, has frequently worn glitzy Balenciaga and vintage wears (often in black—her go-to color). Both actors have their own distinctive style going on, but at last night’s Moet & Chandon’s holiday party in New York City, they proved they’re a match made in fashion heaven.

Both fashion plates opted for sleek and sculptural black ensembles. Demie went the vintage route with a corset-style suit from Alaïa’s spring 1992 collection. The squared neckline and peaks of white lace felt dainty, but fresh thanks to the wasp-waist. Russell, meanwhile, chose a more sci-fi look from Schiaparelli’s spring 2022 couture collection. Her dress’s spherical piping was reminiscent of Saturn’s rings. For a matchy-matchy moment, both stars wore Christian Louboutin’s black pointed pumps, and even held hands on the carpet.

So, was this an impromptu and unexpected twinning moment, or are the two stars friends who called each other up before the event? They did star in the 2019 film Waves together, so they have history. We’re betting on the latter, and hoping for more dual appearances from here on out, please.
