All It Took Was One Last Pair Of Baggy Thigh-High Boots For Kim To Reach Peak Kardashian

You might have thought we reached peak Kim Kardashian at the point the star was marching on a treadmill wearing a sauna suit during her quest to lose 16 pounds for the Met Gala. Or when she wrapped her entire person in Balenciaga hazard tape. Her morph suit? That was close too.

But Kim’s most recent look, worn, quite simply, to swing by the office where a raft of paps happened to be waiting to photograph the businesswoman exiting her £500k custom Lamborghini, showed her unwavering commitment to elevating even the most mundane of day-to-day outfits into a “moment”.

Her Tuesday workwear went a little something like this: a Balenciaga X Adidas Lurex sweater with matching running shorts gave off a sporty roller disco-ready vibe, while her over-the-knee wader-style stiletto boots and leather trench (also both ’ciaga) brought The Matrix’s Orpheus into the equation. There was a lot to unpack.

Anyone watching The Kardashians will know the level of curation that went into this fleeting street style. From the glittering Hourglass bag matching her sparkly polo-neck (the KarJenners live for a coordinating accessory) to the dark backdrop to make all that Lurex pop (who catches up on paperwork in hot pants at night?), Kim proved that she might have dabbled briefly in Dolce, but she’s still a dedicated Demna disciple who’s firmly in her Balenciaga phase. (Earlier in the day, she even swapped her failsafe Yeezy slides for a pair of the French brand’s flip-flops).

If Kim’s previous out-there ensembles have posed questions of why we’re still dieting to get into dresses and pulling all-nighters in the name of radical, temporary beauty transformations, this low-key mid-week shoot makes us wonder when it became ok to spend thousands on quick fire social content, and why we’re all still buying into it. Who doesn’t love to see Kim’s latest luxury hauls, but where will this week’s Balenciaga top be come next week, or even tomorrow?
