Billie Eilish has pulled the plug on all social media.
The Bad Guy singer, 21, said, ‘I don’t look at it anymore. I’ve deleted it all off my phone,’ in an appearance on the Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend podcast, alongside her brother Finneas.
The Ocean Eyes singer said the decision was ‘such a huge deal’ for her as she is a self-proclaimed ‘internet kid.’
‘I feel like I grew up in the perfect time of the internet when it wasn’t so internet-y that I didn’t have a childhood. I really had such a childhood, and I was doing stuff all the time,’ the Grammy winner – who was granted a restraining order against an intruder who accessed her property – said. ‘It was like computers and games on computers, but barely.
‘And then when I became a pre-teen, there were iPhones, and then I got a little older, there was all of what has become, but being a pre-teen and a teenager on the internet, those were my people, I was one of them,’ she added.
She didn’t feel like she changed, but the world and how it perceived her did.
‘I’m a person who goes on the internet… And slowly the videos that I’m watching and the things that I see on the internet are, like, about me. I’m, like, “Eww, stinky.” I don’t like that,’ she said.
She talked about finding a video about herself that claimed she was a horrible person and how that affected her.
‘The person seemed like they were in the right headspace,’ she said with Conan adding, ‘They were convincing you.
‘It’s these definitive statements that they know are right,’ she added saying that the internet makes her gullible.
‘Anything I read on the internet I believe. Me! And I know for a fact that’s stupid and I shouldn’t do that because I have proof that it’s not all true. Almost none of it’s true,’ she said. ‘It’s, like, little things, like small white lies that goes over everybody’s head, but everyone believes.’
And Conan agreed with her, saying that the internet and social media ‘doesn’t help creativity.’

Billie went on to say that she would be leaving the gym, see the paparazzi, and later see that photo of herself described as ‘Billie Eilish in L.A. leaving the studio where she’s working on new music.’
‘Why lie,’ she said. ‘It’s such a small thing, but why lie?
‘And I was like wow, how much of what I read on the internet when I was younger was a lie?’
And being off social media might help her in other ways too.
Last month, the singer was granted a restraining order against a man she caught staring at her through the living room window of her $2.3 million horse ranch in Glendale, California.
The temporary restraining order requires the man, Raymond Black, to stay at least 100 yards away from the Lovely singer and her house, according to documents obtained by TMZ.
The order also prohibits Black from going to the home of the Grammy winner’s parents, Maggie Baird and Patrick O’Connell.
The star told police she discovered a man on her ‘pool deck around 7:30 p.m.’ that had ‘disrobed’ in her backyard on February 20.
