He told Billboard: ‘You’d think they’re siblings, sometimes more than Nick and I. They pick on each other, they play games… Demi’s a great listener, and she keeps Nick smiling — she’ll always make a serious situation laughable.

‘So, they’ve found great support with one another and they lean on each other creatively. Nick’s evolved so much as a writer. Demi’s voice is stronger than ever. It’s difficult to take a backseat and say, “Let’s work together and figure out something great.” I commend them both for that.’

‘They pick on each other’: Nick’s brother Joe Jonas explained that the pair’s friendship is more like brother and sister.

Having all starred together in Disney movie Camp Rock in 2008 has bonded them for life, Joe – who used to date Demi – told the publication.

‘She is like a sister to both of us, and it’s great to know we all have that support. It’s like, it doesn’t matter what comes our way. We’re going to be able to make it through,’ he revealed.

Meanwhile, Demi spoke about her struggles with mental illness before her performance at last week’s Democratic National Convention.

‘We can do better,’ Demi urged the crowd, pleading with lawmakers on hand to pass legislation that would better improve access to good mental healthcare.

‘This is not about politics, it is simply the right thing to do,’ she said, aiming her comments at those members of congress in the room.
