‘And that is the most triggering thing that you could possibly write about somebody with an eating disorder. That sucked, and I wanted to quit, I wanted to use, wanted to give up…’ added the Confidence singer who rose to fame as a Disney star alongside Selena Gomez.

‘And then I just realized that if I don’t look at those things then they can’t affect me. So, I stopped looking and I just really try not to look at anything negative.’

But despite the negativity, the Sober singer will still be open about her own struggles.

She added: ‘I think the positives outweigh the negatives. I think that if they didn’t, I wouldn’t be doing this.’

Demi Lovato opens up about being honest in her new docuseries

However, Demi admitted she does find it ‘draining’ to be so candid with her fans, particularly when they share such emotional experiences.

She said: ‘It’s draining, yes, and it’s hard. There’s reasons why my meet and greets have gotten a lot shorter over the years.

‘More than a handful of people would tell you each time, ‘You saved my life,’ or they would show me the cuts on their wrists.

‘I know that they mean well, I know that they are confiding in me because they have no one else. But it does take a lot.’

Meanwhile, Demi recently revealed she has been smoking marijuana and drinking alcohol ‘in moderation’.

Speaking in YouTube docu-series ‘Demi Lovato: Dancing With The Devil’, she said: ‘I’ve learned that it doesn’t work for me to say that I’m never going to do this again… I know I’m done with the stuff that’s going to kill me, right?

‘Telling myself that I can never have a drink or smoke marijuana, I feel like that’s setting myself up for failure because I am such a black-and-white thinker.

‘I had it drilled into my head for so many years that one drink was equivalent to a crack pipe… [I’ve] been smoking weed and drinking in moderation.’
