She was named Grand Marshall for the LA Pride parade, in charge of entertaining half a million people.

And Demi Lovato did not disappoint as she danced and sang on a colourful float while being pulled through the streets of Hollywood on Sunday.

The singer looked to be inspired by Eighties glam punk as she rocked a side shave and a black leather blazer trimmed with heavy straps.

The Heart Attack singer completed her look with a pair of studded tight black trousers and a white dress shirt with a black tie.

About 400,000 participants had flocked to the area by Sunday afternoon.

Lovato’s float featured a sign that declared, ‘Really Don’t Care’ – and a half a dozen dancers dressed in gold, pink and black bodysuits.

A true professional, the former Disney star gave an enthusiastic performance that had revelers dancing in the streets.

The songstress will head to New York at the end of the month to headline NYC Pride’s Dance on the Pier in Tribeca on June 29, one day after the 45th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots of 1969 that sparked the gay pride movement.

‘I have been an active advocate of the LGBT community and am wholly committed to supporting individuality and being comfortable in one’s own skin.

‘I am thrilled to be a part of both events as they are a wonderful celebration of independence and self-confidence,’ the chart topper said in a statement.

Joined at LA’s event by singers Mary Lambert and Jennifer Hudson, Lovato wore her signature black hair long and sleek, but seems to have freshly shaven the left side of her scalp.

Meanwhile, the star’s new world tour will run in support of Lovato’s fourth studio record, Demi, and is sure to be her biggest production yet.

The singer will also bring special guests Christina Perri and MKTO on the road with her through her North American leg.
