Dua Lipa is bringing the exposed thong trend into 2023, and her look totally stole the show this New Year’s Eve.

The pop star rang in the new year in a shimmering halter dress from Ludovic de Saint Sernin’s Spring 2023 Mirage collection that glittered with every move. Her outfit was reminiscent of the Y2K vibes that took over last year, made with a sheer pink sparkly material and designed with an asymmetrical silhouette and criss-crossed back.

The dress featured a super low cut back that put all the focus on a special detail that Dua added: an exposed white thong. For a celebratory Instagram post shared on January 1, Dua shared a carousel of photos featuring the sparkling party ‘fit, which also included hot pink boots and a high ponytail. She dedicated the look to 2023, with a caption wishing peace, love, health, and happiness for the year ahead.

This wasn’t the first time Dua’s worn a statement thong. Back in November, the singer posed in another white thong embroidered with her name in light blue. The monogrammed underwear popped out of a denim miniskirt by Diesel, calling back to the “whale’s tail” thong trend of the 2000s.

It may be a new year, but it looks like Dua’s signature peek-a-boo style is here to stay.
