Dua Lipa to Make Her Acting Debut in Upcoming Spy Film ‘Argylle’

Dua Lipa is making herself known as a triple threat.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Grammy winner will make her acting debut in director Mathew Vaughn’s upcoming thriller Argylle. The 25-year-old will also appear on the soundtrack and provide music for the film’s original score. Appearing in the movie alongside Lipa is a star-studded cast including Henry Cavill, Bryan Cranston, Sam Rockwell, Bryce Dallas Howard, Catherine O’Hara, John Cena, and Samuel L. Jackson.

The film is based on the unreleased novel of the same name by Ellie Conway which is expected to hit shelves in 2022. The novel follows the titular character—the world’s greatest spy—as he travels the world on missions of international consequence. Like the book, the film is expected to expand into a three-movie franchise. Filming on the project is expected to commence in August.

“When I read this early draft manuscript I felt it was the most incredible and original spy franchise since Ian Fleming’s books of the ’50s,” said Vaughn. “This is going to reinvent the spy genre.”

Vaughn, who is known for the spy film series Kingsman, will also produce Argylle under his production company Marv. The company’s CEO Zygi Kamasa said, “We are delighted that we will be starting our fourth, and by far the biggest, feature film production since the start of the global pandemic. It demonstrates both our desire to scale up our production activity and our ambition to continue to launch new franchises beyond the Kingsman series of films.”
