Dua Lipa Took Barbiecore to the Next Level With Her Hot-Pink Hair

Her hairstylist shared a behind-the-scenes look at the shade, created for a new campaign with Puma.

Fresh from a worldwide tour, Dua Lipa isn’t resting on her laurels for long. Having walked in Balenciaga’s haute couture show on July 6 (alongside Nicole Kidman and Kim Kardashian, no less), the singer just showed off a brand new hair color in campaign photos for her latest collection with Puma.

Hot pink to “make the boys wink,” wrote her hairstylist Chris Appleton, who shared a selection of behind-the-scenes photographs from the shoot. Lipa’s raven hair color was no more — if only for the shoot itself. It is likely the rich and vivid shade of pink is a wig.

Tapping into the current Barbiecore trend, the new shade is unapologetically vibrant and the near-fuchsia hue really suits the singer. To recreate a similarly strong shade like this, look to Bleach London’s The Big Pink Super Cool Color, a semi-permanent color mask that delivers brilliant color (to pre-lightened hair) in just 30 minutes. If you’re dark-haired, you will need to bleach first to create a similar depth of color.

It’s not the first time the singer has experimented with blush shades in her hair. Back in April 2020, her boyfriend at the time, Anwar Hadid, dyed her peroxide blonde hair rose pink. It quickly began a big pandemic trend — for a while, everyone was trying strawberry tones. Perfect for the months when summer turns to autumn, this shade is one you’ll want to bookmark for your next dye job. You won’t regret it.
