Born on August 3, 1992 in Chicago, Illinois, Karlie Kloss is an American model and entrepreneur. She moved to st. Louis with her family in 1994. Kloss regards her classical ballet training as “a beautiful thing” that taught her how to move in the modelling world and was a great training ground for her runway walks later. Kloss was “discovered” at a local benefit runway show. Kloss attended Webster Groves High School in Webster Groves, Missouri. In September 2015, Kloss enrolled in the Gallatin School of Individualized Study of New York University. While she started her modelling career with Elite, she left it in January 2008 and signed with NEXT Model Management. She walked 31 runways in New York Fashion Week, and closed for Marc Jacobs, opened for Carolina Herrera, and did both the spots for Doo Ri. After that, she walked 20 shows in Milan and 13 in Paris for the fall 2008 collections, totalling 64 shows in a single season. This led to a legal tangle between Elite and NEXT, which was later resolved out of court. After being represented by NEXT for four years, Kloss signed with IMG Models.
