Katy Perry completes star-studded line up of performers at the BRIT Awards… and bags her own emoji in honour of her onstage appearance

She recently made her pop comeback with new dance hit Chained To The Rhythm.

And Katy Perry has now been announced as the performer completing the star-studded line-up at this year’s BRIT Awards.

The Roar singer confirmed on Tuesday that she will be taking to the stage at the bash, held at London’s O2 Arena next week, to belt out her new track to the crowds – and has even bagged her own emoji in honour of the news.

Taking to the stage: Katy Perry has now been announced as the performer completing the star-studded line-up at this year’s BRIT Awards

Overwhelmed by the news, she said excitedly in a statement: ‘I’m excited to come back to one of my favourite countries, where most of my favourite musical influences come from.’

‘After three years, I’m excited to return to the BRITs’ stage to kick off a new era of purposeful pop.’

Causing even more of a frenzy among fans, Katy, who won the BRIT Award for Best International Female Solo Artist in 2009, later took to Twitter to tease her fans about the appearance – which she hints will see the ‘next chapter’ of the song.

Remaining coy about what the set will involve, she wrote playfully: ‘YAY 2nd chapter of #ChainedToTheRhythm continues in LONDON! (sic)’

In further celebration of her undoubtedly energetic performance, the Hot N Cold hitmaker was also assigned her own emoji for the awards.

The BRIT Awards took to their own Twitter page after the announcement to unveil the strikingly similar cartoon version of her, complete with a stylish pink jacket and her trademark blonde bob.

The events producers wrote beside the image: ‘Of course #BRITs performer @katyperry has an official emoji and OF COURSE it’s adorable!!! #KatyPerryBRITs #BRITs (sic)’

Katy completes a star-studded line-up of performers at this year’s ceremony, joining Ed Sheeran, Bruno Mars, Skepta, Little Mix, The 1975, Robbie Williams and Emeli Sande.
