Madison Beer Got Fashion Tips From Justin Bieber

“I think he has really cool style.”

Prepping to walk the runway at New York Fashion Week is a totally different situation than preparing to go on stage and perform — just ask singer Madison Beer.

We caught the “All For Love” singer trying to maintain her zen while sitting in hair and makeup backstage before the Go Red for Women Red Dress Collection show, which benefits the American Heart Association. “I want to say I’m more nervous, but I’m kind of freaked out because I’ve never walked the runway before,” said the NYFW newbie, after sending out a few quick texts to her boyfriend Jack Gillinsky of rap duo Jack & Jack. (For reassurance, we presume.) “I’m scared I’m going to fall. It’ll be good. It’ll be really fun and I’m excited and if i do fall, it’s all good.”

Hey, it’s happened to the best of them — just ask supermodel and Yeezy 3 star Naomi Campbell and well, queen of the faceplant, Jennifer Lawrence. “Everyone’s fallen,” Madison agreed. “When you’re walking in heels in a long dress you’re bound to fall at some point.”

By the way, the Justin Bieber protege didn’t fall while walking the runway in a one-shoulder, leg-baring asymmetrical gown by Halston Heritage. She totally crushed the catwalk saunter, actually, so note to all casting agents out there. But an edgy, long silhouette wouldn’t be her first choice when it comes to a prom dress — mainly because, well, the 16-year-old isn’t going.

“Probably not. I wish,” she said. But hypothetically, if she was going, Madison has an altogether different aesthetic in mind.

“I’ve always liked the really short dresses that are tight up top and poofy at the bottom,” she said. “I love that. The little princess cupcake look is so cute.” Experiencing some Ariana Grande deja vu here…

And Madison would love for Jack — still on the hypothetical — to stick with a classic look. “I love him in just a black tux,” she said with a smile. “So cute. So handsome.”

Speaking of, the Justin Bieber protege has been known to take relationship advice from her mentor. But what about fashion advice? After all, the “Sorry” singer models for Calvin Klein (albeit in not much clothing) and regularly graces the front row of fashion shows.

“I think he has really cool style,” Madison said. “Just super chill style. It’s kind of what I’ve gotten from him.”
