Olivia Rodrigo drops and breaks one of her Grammys shortly after winning

Olivia Rodrigo tried to balance her three Grammys backstage at Sunday night’s awards show, only to drop and break one just like her idol Taylor Swift did 12 years prior.

After the trophy fell to the floor and snapped in two, the 19-year-old stood there, her two other Gramophones in hand, with a shocked look on her face.

A pH๏τographer tried to reᴀssure Rodrigo by saying, “That’s all right” before jokingly adding, “We’ll just put it on your bill” in a video tweeted by Variety.

Thankfully, an ᴀssistant came to rescue and temporarily put the trophy back together so the “Good 4 U” singer could finish taking pH๏τos with her award for Best New Artist, Best Pop Vocal Album (“Sour”) and Best Pop Solo Performance (“Drivers License”).

The exact same thing happened to Swift at the 2010 Grammys when the then-20-year-old superstar accidentally dropped and broke one of her four awards backstage and needed help piecing it back together.

Rodrigo has long cited Swift, now 32, as one of the biggest influences on her music career. The two finally got in touch after the “High School Musical: The Musical: The Series” star’s meteoric rise to fame last year, with Rodrigo telling Billboard that the “All Too Well” singer had sent her a note to congratulate her on her success.

“I don’t want to divulge too much because it’s really sweet and personal, but she talks a lot about how, I think, you make your own luck in the world,” the teen told the magazine in May 2021. “And when you do kind things to others, good things come your way.”

That same month, Rodrigo and Swift got together in person at the 2021 Brit Awards and posed for a funny Instagram selfie.

Sunday’s awards show marked the actress’ first appearance at the Grammys. In addition to taking home three trophies, she performed the song that started it all, “Drivers License.”
