Sydney Sweeney Is Officially a Redhead Again

The girl is playing hair color hopscotch. Blonde bombshell Sydney Sweeney, star of The White Lotus and Euphoria, dyed her hair a light copper tone at the beginning of March, right around the time she started sporting a massive diamond engagement ring.

But just as quickly as the color came, it was gone. Maybe a temporary dye or something? Because at her later appearances, including the 2022 Vanity Fair Oscars after-party, she was back to blonde. There she wore a Miu Miu gown with a mesh beaded top and silk skirt, silver sandal heels, and purple jewelry to match the gown.

Yet not even a week later, she revealed a return to red! Appearing on Ellen on Thursday, March 31, Sweeney sported warm auburn hair that looks just as gorgeous as the blonde.

When she posted the look on Instagram, she got supportive comments from fellow redhead Bella Thorne (“😍”) and designer Marc Jacobs (“Beauty.”). “❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️,” wrote her onscreen sister, Maude Apatow. And she got an appreciative “The way you show out. Every. Single. Time. 👏🥵” from the, uh, Amazon Prime Video account. Okay!

Sydney Sweeney tagged her hairstylist, Florido Basallo III, in the post, who in turn tagged the hair-care product brand Joico in his post about her look. Basallo didn’t specify which products were used on Sweeney, but the formula combo for copper looks similar, no?

The reason for all this color flip-flopping is her latest role. “I [dyed my hair red] for a movie called National Anthem,” Sweeney told Glamour in her Big Beauty Questions interview this March. “My character’s name is Penny Jo, and I wanted to change it up from being blonde. I’ve been a blonde for Cassie for a while, and I wanted something that felt more like my character. I cut my hair, gave myself bangs, and changed my color, because I wanted to embody Penny Jo in a different kind of way.”

She also revealed that she’s naturally a brunette “with a little bit of red.” Can we see that next, please?
